Many interesting stories go behind the origin of the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 character Groot. It was assumed by one and all that the termites used by Leslie Evans literally killed him and he was no more in existence. After this, Groot’s replica came up that was maneuvered by Xemnu that was put to use to fight the Hulk but later it was destroyed in the battle. It was later unveiled that Groot had survived the battle and a Collector had held him as a captive. He was imprisoned and kept in his zoo in Canada. It was the Mole Man who came as a savior and freed Groot and the other captive creatures. The Howling Commandos, commonly known as S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Paranormal Containment Unit, later found the Groot and held him their captive. While Groot was being held captive, Gorilla-Man talked to Groot about joining the Howling Commandos. Groot and his fellows were set free with the help of Merlin and his forces who attacked the base. All the captives ran away fearing their lives but it was Groot who stayed and offered to join the Howling Commandos. Groot added the Howling Commandos as they assaulted Merlin’s forces.
Known as an extra-terrestrial creature, Groot’s main diet is can wood, and he possesses the ability to regenerate. So whenever Groot is attacked and killed, he re-grows again from a spring. Groot can easily increase mass and can take any form and shape. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 cast would be seeing baby Groot as an important addition as the original Groot was destroyed in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie series’ first installment.
